Farewell Fountain City UMC

This week marks the start of a new job for me. After much thought and prayer, I have accepted the position and begun work as one of two student ministry interns for Concord United Methodist Church. After meeting the students last night, I am beyond excited to get to know them and begin building Christian relationships. I am grateful for the warm greeting I received last night and already feel at home with this group. The Lord is at work in this program, of this I am sure. Chris Luper, my new boss, and Emily Ballard, my partner in crime, are both amazing Christian role models for the student and myself. I look forward to growing in faith with them as we begin working together.

To the pastors, friends, and youth of Fountain City UMC, I am forever grateful for all that you have given me. Fountain City has truly been a home for me and a constant source of love and encouragement. For as long as I can remember, the people of Fountain City have taught me what it means to be a Jesus-follower. It is because of the amazing people of FCUMC that I am who I am today and I thank them for starting me on the path of youth ministry. I especially want to thank Daniel Doubleday for being a tremendous role model for me through the last several years. It is, in large part, thanks to Daniel that I am exploring a career in youth ministry. I know that I am a better man and a more faithful follower of Christ thanks to the example Daniel has given me. Even as my relationship with Daniel has evolved, I continue to admire his compassion, dignity and intense love of God and people.

To my co-workers at Fountain City (Rachel, Nathan, Tiana and Calloway), thank you for walking and growing with me in Christ. You have all given me such inspiration and encouragement. I will forever be proud and grateful of the work we did together. Rachel, my closest friend, thank you for being such an amazing person. Without your friendship and constant motivation, I doubt I would’ve had the confidence to take this step in my life. I so value our friendship and the example of faith you set for me.

I am filled with excitement and anticipation at the opportunity to be involved in the Lord’s work at Concord. I have no clue what the Lord has in store for me but I am ready and willing to follow His lead. Thanks to the community of Fountain City and the many Christian role models in my life, I feel prepared to continue my journey as a Christ follower and youth leader at Concord UMC.
